Making you a successful claimant

Creating successful outcomes to claims is what drives BSN.

Whether it is getting your house underpinned, your factory rebuilt, recovering your loss of profits; or even getting a claim rejection overturned; we strive to enhance your claim experience and achieve a successful settlement.

How we make a difference

Aside from the obvious financial impact, suffering loss or damage to property or possessions can be an unsettling experience. Compassionate but pragmatic advice and assistance from BSN will help focus your decision-making and alleviate your concerns.

Your interests are quite different to those of your insurance company. They retain specialists, primarily Loss Adjusters, to protect theirs and reduce their costs. The adjuster’s brief is to investigate the claim, your compliance with policy conditions, the adequacy of your insurance cover; and to settle, if at all, on terms which suit them best. We balance those hefty scales weighted against you, understand how they think, know what they are going to say before they say it; and with our knowledge and expertise, we negotiate with them on equal terms.

We will save you a great deal of time, relieve your stress, give you clear explanations, keep you informed, prosecute your claim, and negotiate the best terms and solutions available.

We have constructive working relationships with all the major firms of loss adjusters, and many of the smaller ones. Our aim is to settle claims amicably if at all possible, but we will not shrink from a fight if the claim is contentious.

Our fees

Fees for pursuing a claim under a client’s own policy of insurance are generally charged on a contingency fee basis, that is to say a percentage of the amounts achieved in settlement of the claim. With some cases we may work on time charges, or a combination of time charges and contingency.

Our fee quotation will take account of the size, complexity and age of the claim, the scope of policy cover available, and the anticipated time and resources required to bring matters to a conclusion. Initial consultations are free and without obligation.

All fees and costs are subject to VAT at the prevailing standard rate.

Regulation

We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and carry Professional Indemnity Insurance.

In the unlikely event you should have cause to make complaint, we operate a formal complaints procedure, after which, if you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to refer your complaint, without charge, to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) if you are insured in a private capacity, or in a commercial capacity complying with their threshold.

Your contract with us will be subject to English Law and your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Other disciplines

BSN has partnerships and working relationships with many other professions, services and suppliers.

When requested, we will endeavour to source and co-ordinate other parties to provide support and expertise in pursuance of your claim. We are also always happy to work with clients’ own preferred professionals and contractors.
